The Right Balance of Muscle and Finesse

I've been having fun experimenting with linocutting. This first design I created with the intention of making other flowers to go with it as an overall pattern on fabric; perhaps for a curtain or pillow. I learned quickly that if I am going to continue working with this medium I'll need to invest in some better tools, transfer paper, and ink. This process has forced me to let go and be less OCD and embrace the unpredictability of it all. During the carving process I gouged a petal, thus requiring me to eliminate it all together. I was quite surprised at how labor intensive this process was, but I loved it. Having to find the right balance of muscle and finesse with each cut demands a mental and physical focus that was refreshing and a far cry from all the computer generated art I've been generating. I know this is only the first of many prints I'll be creating.
