Fishing For Ideas

My initial idea for my T-shirt design was a person drawing where the images spilled off of the page and into the surrounding environment. What exactly the image should be was still to be determined. My first attempt was a bust as I had drawn a woman with a tree growing out of her head, which ended up being too complex. As I started fishing for more ideas I came across some images of bats and thought this could work. I did a quick search of the meaning behind bats and the first one that came up stated they symbolized death and rebirth. As an artist I struggle with keeping a consistent style and yet the idea of consistencey is stifling. So the idea of letting one style die as a new one is born intrigued me and set me on my current design path. Here are my preliminary sketches for the T-shirt design.
